(Guest) Book Review: ‘Jesus Calling,’ by Sarah Young

A recent post on my church’s buy-nothing Facebook group asked for devotional recommendations. I always find these threads interesting; avid reader that I am, I love new-to-me book recs and to see what others are reading!

One book recommended was Sarah Young’s Jesus Calling. You’ve likely heard about this book (and the others it’s spawned), even if you haven’t read it; its prevalence within the Christian community is quite something–whether positive or negative is debatable.

One of my church’s former pastors (who now preaches elsewhere in Washington state) wrote an excellent, in-depth review of Jesus Calling; while it’s no longer on the church website, I’m sharing here for posterity and food for thought.

The review is six pages long (but so worth the read!), so is linked as a PDF below.
Note: The review was initially published on canyonhillscommunitychurch.com; while it is no longer on that site as Pastor Mark now works elsewhere, it is reproduced verbatim here.
